Deep in Thought

As a woman have you ever just found yourself deep in thought contemplating life? Take time for yourself and listen to what your inner self has to say.  That voice you hear is your intuition, also known as your soul. When it speaks listen and react accordingly.

Turning old Buttons into New!

My weekend project was to try to figure out what to do with a box of old event buttons I found in the garage. So I spray painted the original yellow image to black, white and gray!  Then collaged over the top.  I turned trash into wearable art!  I'm so happy with the result.   #40 & #41 in the A Cat A Day Project!

Black & White or Color?

I love, love, love black and white art but often find that when I create it this deep need to add color always comes up.  And on that note, here we go again.  # 39 - in the A Cat A Day Project " The Fish Invasion"

Crazy Eyes

I love anything thing that makes me cock my head to the side and go huh!?  In other words I love art that makes me think and has that unusual twist to it.  "Embrace the Odd" I always say and this piece is just odd enough to be cute and funny.  #31 in the Cat A Day Project - "Crazy Eyes!

Cats have Thoughts and Feelings too!

I often wonder what cats are thinking when they look out a window or stare at you with that questioning look in their eyes.  So to say that I love quoting them in art is an understatement!  Their expressions say it all, you just have to listen.  #29 in the A Cat A Day Project.

Words make a Difference

Sometimes you find a phrase that you just love and you decide to build a piece of art around it. That's just what happened this weekend.  I found the phrase "Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost" by J.R.R. Tolkien  What a wonderful phrase and words make a difference when you add them to art. First you find them and then you build on them.  Enjoy #26 & #27 my weekend cats in the Cat A Day Project.

Watercolors are not just for Kids!

While traveling in Switzerland I was really wanting to add some color to some little drawings I had done in my note book.  So I decided on this beautiful watercolor set.  The colors are warm and vibrant and I just love them and still use them today.  "Monster and Ghost Cat" # 24 in the Cat A Day Project

Find Beauty in the Odd

Sometimes the more unusual or weird the art is the more you like it.  It's interesting and has character.  This collage does that for me.  I love it!

In Time Out

When it comes to creating works of art portraying Kid Cats its all about the expressions!  This sweet little cat did something wrong and now she's in Time Out! I hate it when that happens! Got to love this collage though.  # 20 - A Cat A Day Project

Meditation

I have always thought of cats as being enlightened. They eat when they are hungry, and sleep when they are tried. You can often find a cat in a meditative state as they sit motionless focused on an object for an extended period of time. Take it from me Cats are spiritual!  From the Cat A Day Project - #19 "Buddha Cat"

Is it or is it not?

It was a busy day and I didn't get to work on my new Cat A Day piece until much later today.  I did manage however to finish this adorable collage and although I sign it I still feel that I can add to it to make it better.  So sweet driving cat you are out there but plan on being added to!  Day # 18

In the English Rose Garden

Here is an example were I found this wonderful frame and created a special piece of art to fit it. This heavy frame looks like victorian lattice work covered in enchanting English pink climbing roses. So what better to have inside then two friends/sisters enjoying the view. This has become one of my personal favorites.  A Cat A Day Project #17

Artist Trading Cards

Over the last 10 years I have been making and collecting (ATCs).  If you are not familiar with (ATCs) let me fill you in!   Artist trading cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world.  You can trade them at organized "swap" events/parties or mail them to other people.  I have to admit that not only have I traded them but I have purchased them if I find an original that I really love.  You can use any artistic materials to create an ATC, paint, collage, rubber stamps, beads, crayons, etc.  The only real official rule is that the size be: 2.5" x 3.5" (The standard size of a baseball card.)
In my current collection I have well over 400 cards which I cherish! I bring my collection out every now and then to marvel over each and every tiny creation.  This morning, day 14, I created a new ATC for my "Cat A Day Project" called Easy Rider.

Finding Art in Fabric

Like so many people out there I love to go thrifting but with one difference. I don't just thrift to find a new pair of shoes or a toaster in great condition, I thrift to find items I can use in a piece of art. I try to recycle as much as I can.  The body of this unusual cat was made out of the fabric of a skirt I found while thrifting.  I loved the Aboriginal pattern and continue that look around the cat with acrylic paints. Result for my "Cat A Day Project" Day 13 - Magical!

The Personality Of A Cat

There is something Magical that happens to me when I collage.  The feeling you get when you discover just the right images that fit together in a cohesive and beautiful way.  Often it takes me hours, even days to make the connections or to find the right letter that spell out the words. No matter how long it takes it's time well spent and the search is part of the fun. Today's piece "Unlock your Potential" shows a well dressed scholarly cat. Perhaps you know someone like this?

A-Cat-A-Day Project

Through out my career as an artist I am always asked why I continue to create pieces of art that have cats in the theme.  Well the answer is simple - create what you love.

Ever since I was a little girl I have loved cats but they didn't love me. Yup, I'm allergic to cats. I have tried every drug known to man kind with no luck. So if I can't have one I can at least surround myself with them in art. It's my simple pleasure and they make me happy! Besides I am the creator of cats doing fun things and I love their expressions.

So instead of just creating one or two Cat works of Art a month I decided on Sept 1st, 2015 to create a piece of CAT ART each and every day for a year! Today, September 10th, 2015 I decided to Blog about my process along with other projects I am working on.

You can find each work of art in the Gallery.  Enjoy the ride!
